Vagabond Cycles: Riding High with a 2024 Best of Florida Award

Recently honored with the 2024 Best of Florida Award, Vagabond Cycles has quickly become a cherished name in the motorcycle scene, thanks to the vision and dedication of Greg and Paula Lewis. In the world of motorcycle customization, where passion meets precision, Vagabond Cycles stands out as a testament to entrepreneurial spirit and community engagement. Greg and Paula's journey is as remarkable as the bikes they create. Before diving into the world of motorcycles, the couple ran a mobile boat repair business. However, the devastation of Hurricane Ian nudged them toward a new direction. Driven by their long-standing love for customizing motorcycles, they decided to follow their true passion. This pivot was more than just a career change; it was a leap into a dream they had always harbored.

Their venture, Vagabond Cycles, was born from a serendipitous meeting with Rick B in Port Charlotte. The vision was clear: a shop dedicated to exceptional motorcycle service, repairs, customization, and tires. Since opening their first shop in Venice, Florida, with the help of Chris W, Director of Facilities Maintenance, Greg and Paula have been making waves with their unique approach to bike customization.

Our Harley Davidson Master Technician, Brian K, came into the Vagabond Cycles family shortly after opening the Venice shop. He is the perfect fit for the vision of Vagabond Cycles with his professional and meticulous approach to every project.

Their first project, a 2007 Street Glide named "Freak in Paradise," was a challenging endeavor that Greg embraced with relentless enthusiasm and expertise. Then Brian and Greg completed a complete rebuild of a 1992 HD Sportster (frame only) this past year. This spirit continues with their latest creation, Vader 1.0—a 2019 Road Glide that bears little resemblance to its original showroom appearance.

Greg’s knack for transforming bikes within any budget is nothing short of extraordinary. “Every bike is a blank canvas,” he says. “We’re here to turn those blank canvases into masterpieces that not only look amazing but also reflect the owner’s personality and style.”

Their pride in their work is matched only by their commitment to the community. Vagabond Cycles has partnered with the Craig Shawn Williamson Foundation to fight hunger, supporting the “Bingo for Hunger” initiative. This collaboration underscores their belief in giving back, with all donations being 100% tax-deductible.

Winning the Best of Florida Award is a testament to the trust and support of their customers. This accolade highlights not only the quality of their work but also their dedication to exceptional customer service and community involvement. As they continue to customize and service motorcycles with the same passion that drives their business, Greg and Paula Lewis remain a shining example of how following one's passion can lead to incredible success and recognition.

So, whether you’re in the market for a custom bike or simply want to connect with a local business that genuinely cares, Vagabond Cycles invites you to stop by. Their door is always open, and who knows? You might just leave with your own “Freak in Paradise.”

We want to meet you!

We opened our first shop in Venice, Florida and enjoyed being a part of the community. In the first year we needed a larger building, so we moved to Englewood, Florida where we are now! We have been met with open arms! Great community!

Our business focuses on customer service and standing behind our work.  Come in and take a look or just stop by and meet our team!

We are proud to announce that we are joining in with Craig Shawn Williamson Foundation to help combat hunger! He is on a mission to create hunger free zones for children globally and has launched "Bingo for Hunger". All donations are 100% tax deductible and we know Craig personally.
